Non-Geographic Phone Numbers, also called NTS Numbers (Number Translation Services), are geographically independent of any area of the UK. They can be directed to an existing UK landline number or to a hosted call handling service.
Non-Geographic Numbers (NGN) allow business to create a National Phone Presence, plus generate revenue depending on the number range. This can be an additional source of business income or used to offset service costs for added call handling features such as voicemail or a full virtual PBX system.

Call Handling
Use of a NGN requires no changes to existing phone services as the number is pointed or 'translated' to an existing geographic number. Services currently on the line such as voicemail or call diversion will be unaffected.

Non-Geographic Numbers Forwarded Outside UK
Companies without a local office can forward UK Non-Geographic Numbers to their overseas numbers creating a UK presence. The service can be revenue neutral up to an agreed number of call minutes for 0844 or 0871 numbers, with a revenue share being paid to the company after the agreed call minutes.
Non revenue generating numbers such as 0207 numbers are chargeable on a per minute basis for the forwarded calls.
