Non-Geographic Number FAQsNon-Geographic Number Revenue and UsageWhat are non-geographic numbers?Non-Geographic Phone Numbers, also called NTS Numbers (Number Translation Services), unlike landline numbers, are geographically independent of any area of the UK. They are pointed to an existing UK landline number or to a hosted call handling service. What are the different types of NGN?
Can I earn revenue by use of an NGN?Dependant on the type and associated tariff, e.g. 09, 0871 or 0844, NGNs can generate revenue for your business. This can be an additional business income stream or be used to offset the costs where additional call handling services have been included. Will my existing landline numbers still function?Use of a NGN requires no changes to existing phone services as the number is pointed or 'translated' to your existing landline number. Call handling services currently on the line such as voicemail or call diversion will be unaffected. What fees and charges are involved?Fees are dependant on the type of NGN and any associated services included in the package. Please contact our Sales Team for information on services and pricing. Can my NGN be directed to Mobile and VoIP phones?Incorporated in the PhonePresence Virtual PBX system is the ability to route incoming calls to any landline, mobile or VoIP phone allowing calls to be taken by your staff in any location. Can I use multiple NGNs?Having any number of NGNs pointed to a single landline number allows business to use a specific number for a each of several promotions. This provides a facility for measuring the effectiveness of each marketing promotion. How can I track usage of my NGN?Comprehensive call reporting and monitoring facilities are included in X-on’s PhonePresence Virtual PBX service providing extensive information on all aspects of your NGN service. Who can benefit from NGNs?Everyone from large corporations to sole traders can benefit from use of an NGN coupled with our call handling services. Where applicable revenue can be earned while providing your callers with a professional phone experience. Who should use NGNs?High tariff numbers, such as 0871, may not be suitable for utilities or companies receiving calls from the elderly or people on low incomes. However 0871 numbers are ideal for technical support lines where the use of a premium rate 09 number may not be suitable. Are memorable numbers available?Yes we can offer memorable NGNs which will assist your customers and callers when trying to remember the number to dial.
